Blood Transfusion Competency Assessment [National] RGMS015
Transfusing donated human blood is a routine medical treatment. Although considered very safe, every transfusion exposes patients to the risk of a potentially fatal transfusion reaction. All clinical staff involved in the transfusion chain are expected to understand good transfusion practices, including the requirements and principles of pre-transfusion preparation, consenting, prescribing, administration, monitoring, clinical documentation and haemovigilance reporting.
